What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a treatment that uses sterile, fine needles to poke invisible, microscopic holes into the top layer of your skin, the epidermis. Microneedling stimulates your skin's natural healing ability, which responds to the tiny punctures. Your skin's healing response leads to the release of growth factors, which also cause an increase in collagen production in your skin.
The Importance of Collagen
As we age, our body produces less and less collagen. Microneedling increases your skin's collagen production. And the result? Fine lines and wrinkles, acne, dark spots, melasma, enlarged pores, stretch marks and scars are reduced. Microneedling also has a firming effect by improving the skin's elasticity and structure.
What can I expect from my microneedling treatment at Botti Beauty & Relax?
Before the treatment, the treatment goal is defined in a personal conversation and all steps are briefly explained again.
And then you can get started – with a gentle cleansing including disinfection. Hyaluronic acid is then applied to your skin.
The next step is the actual needling, where the skin is treated with micro-fine needles. But don't worry - the treatment is not painful.
Finally, a special cooling fleece mask is applied to soothe the skin and provide it with sufficient moisture.
Needling leads to an activation of growth factors. The skin cells are activated to produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
Immediately after the treatment, the skin is slightly red and is treated with special skin-soothing ingredients. For example, the hyaluronic acid concentrate from IMAGE Skincare® to strengthen and improve skin firmness and moisture content.
There is little to no downtime with microneedling. The treated area will have visible redness that can last for two to four days. You should use sunscreen for at least a week after treatment to protect the treated area from sunburn.
Depending on the treatment goal and skin condition, microneedling requires approximately 3-5 treatments at intervals of 3-6 weeks.
Who is not a candidate for microneedling?
Microneedling is approved for all skin types. However, make sure you provide us with your medical history, as some conditions may exclude you as a candidate for microneedling. It is important that you fill out our information sheet completely and truthfully.
Please also let us know if you have already had other procedures done on the area you would like us to treat with microneedling. To achieve the best possible result, you may have to wait a while before having another treatment on the same area.
